Canadian Positive Psychology Association

Disclaimer:

Positive psychology is a topic area within the field of psychology that seeks to provide scientific answers to the question "What is the good life?" Positive psychology is not a modality for treating psychological disorders.

The Canadian Positive Psychology Association (CPPA) is a registered non-profit organization that was federally incorporated in 2012.

We are not a regulatory body and we do not certify, monitor or endorse any member services.

The Canadian Positive Psychology Association (CPPA) offers learning opportunities about positive psychology through educational events such as webinars, workshops and conferences.

CPPA does not offer psychological services of any kind. Anyone seeking counseling, therapy or other forms of (mental) health services is advised to consult a licensed (mental) health services professional.

Membership in CPPA does not provide members with any credentials or certification to practice, does not qualify someone as a psychologist, or allow them to offer psychological services.

Membership in the CPPA does not give practitioners authority to practice psychology in Canada.

To practice psychology in Canada, like other health care professionals, psychologists must be licensed. Licensure to practice is granted by regulatory bodies in each Canadian jurisdiction.

Thus, only registered psychologists are legally allowed to use the word ‘psychologist’ in their official title.

A summary of what is legally required to practice in Canada can be found here: http://www.cpa.ca/practitioners/practiceregulation/.

Anyone seeking counseling, therapy or other forms of (mental) health services is advised to consult a licensed (mental) health services professional.

You may wish to reach out to the Canadian Psychological Association to find a licensed (mental) health services professional in your area: http://cpa.ca/public/
